We recognise that travelling overseas can be expensive for students. All fee-paying degree students who formally accept their place onto an overseas DMU Global opportunity will receive a bursary. For the 2024 – 2025 academic year students can receive:
bursary for opportunities in Europe
bursary for opportunities outside of Europe
All DMU students that meet the eligibility criteria for an opportunity are able to receive funding for and participate in up to two DMU Global overseas opportunities in a single academic year (1 September 2024 to 31 August 2025). See our eligibility page for further details.
How will I receive my DMU Global bursary?
All DMU Global trips where you are travelling as a group will be booked by the University and will include your travel and accommodation. In this case, the bursary will be deducted from the total cost of the booking. You will then be asked to make a payment for the remainder of the cost to DMU using the Online Store.
On occasions where you will be travelling independently (i.e. for a summer school, work placement or to study abroad) you will be responsible for booking travel. The DMU Global bursary will be paid directly into your chosen bank account at least 2 months before you travel.
Additional support
As well as the DMU Global bursary, we also offer additional financial support that you could be eligible to receive.
If I arrange an international opportunity independently, will I still receive funding and support?
DMU Global funding and support is only available for opportunities which are sourced and organised through DMU Global. You will not be able to receive funding or support for an international opportunity that you have arranged independently unless this is through the external providers listed on our website.
