Alongside our overseas opportunities, we have a range of exciting internationally-themed experiences that take place on campus at DMU. Our aim is for these to be accessible and open to all students, without the need to travel. These opportunities will help you develop an appreciation for new cultures, gain a better understanding of global issues and languages, as well as enhance soft skills, such as communication, self-confidence and teamworking.

Study a new language
Expand your horizons by learning a new language. Available to all DMU students, you could study one of the following non- credit bearing languages: Arabic; French; German; Japanese and Spanish.
Learn Mandarin
Through the Confucius Institute (CI), you could be learning one of the world’s most spoken languages. There are a range of study option and classes are free for DMU students and staff.
Teach English as a Foreign Language
Gain an accredited teaching qualification through TEFL.org at a subsidised price. This course combines classroom-based and online learning, and can open up a range of opportunities in the future for you to teach English abroad.
Intercultural Awareness Certificate
Develop new skills and become an engaged global citizen. This programme allows you to participate in a range of activities designed to boost your intercultural awareness.
