Intercultural Awareness Certificate
All DMU undergraduate students are eligible to apply for this opportunity. The maximum number of places is 30, and the minimum number of students required is 15 for the programme to go ahead. Please check our eligibility criteria for further details.
Develop news skills and become an engaged global citizen by taking part in the Intercultural Awareness Certificate. This opportunity will enhance your intercultural awareness and knowledge of global issues through a range of activities throughout the academic year. Activities include:
Enhance your understanding of global issues by participating in two workshops run by Dr Karen Malan:
Participants are required to attend both workshops
Do something new this year and enhance your skills with one of the following optional activities;
Participate in volunteering projects with DMU Local, including providing support to asylum seekers and refugees in Leicester.
All students are required to complete a minimum 10 hours of volunteering.
Reflection and Graduation
Once you have completed the steps above, all participants will be expected to deliver a short presentation about a topic, issue or personal intercultural experience that has formed part of the programme.
Successful students will receive a certificate and will participate in a small graduation ceremony.
Intercultural Awareness Trip
Subject to approval by the University and providing travel is permitted, we hope to offer an overseas trip for Intercultural Awareness Certificate graduates in June 2021. The cost of the flight and accommodation will be covered by DMU Global. If travel is not possible, students will not be due any refund and funding is not transferable to another opportunity.
