DMU students have the opportunity to join the Summer Teaching English Programme in Thailand, based at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University (SSRU) in Bangkok, the beautiful capital city of Thailand. As part of this five-week programme you will help teach SSRU students English language, and you will also be immersed in Thai culture.
The Summer Teaching English Programme will help SSRU’s Thai university students improve their English. You will play a vital role in the creation of an English-speaking environment for undergraduate students and you will get to know them and learn about their lives and culture.
The programme runs for five weeks and the normal working week is Monday through to Friday, except Excursion Fridays. Weekends are free for you to enjoy.
Morning classes operate from 9:00am to 11:00am. Afternoon classes operate from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The day ends at 3:00pm and is often a great time to chat with your Thai counterparts and learn more about them. On Excursion Fridays you will get to explore Bangkok’s major tourist attractions via a series of trips around the capital.
Weekends are free for leisure activities and you can explore different parts of Thailand, including the islands, where you relax on the beaches, go diving or snorkeling or visit the many temples or markets. You can also choose to take short courses, for example Thai traditional massage, Thai cooking classes or Thai Boxing (Muay Thai) classes!
SSRU will also offer the cultural training as part of the orientation in week 1, and a weekend trip to the beach in week 5.
