California State University (CSU), Chico was founded in 1887 and is the second oldest campus in the 23-campus California State University system. The University offers more than 100 undergraduate major and minor options and has almost 18,000 students. Chico is located north of Sacramento and is only a few hours away from Lake Tahoe, San Francisco and the Oregon border. A three-hour drive away from the mountains, the city or the beach.
Programmes of study
CSU offers a range of programmes of study that include Art Studies, Business Administration, Computer Science, International Studies, Mathematics, Technology, Theatre and so on. Full details of the majors on offer can be found on the CSU website.
Exchange students will be required to follow a full programme of study for the academic year based at Carleton University.
Campus activities and events
At CSU, there are countless activities on the Chico State campus to make the most out of your university experience. CSU has a variety of events that take place throughout the year such as Jazz X-Press, Pancakes at the Disco, Zero Waste Challenge, Movie night and so on. In addition, you can take part in the Student Life and Leadership which strives to create an environment in which all students and student organizations are encouraged and aided in the development of positive social, cultural, intellectual, recreational, and leadership programs and activities.
At CSU you also have the opportunity to get involved with Sports & Recreation which includes Intramural Sports such as Basketball, American Football, Tennis and more. Explore all of the exciting ways to get involved as a Chico State Wildcat, including Intercollegiate Athletics and Sport Clubs which are competitive and have sent many of their teams to National Championships.
It is recommended that you purchase your flights once you have your Letter of Acceptance and the required documents to enter the United States such as passport, Visa and Study Permit. Whilst at CSU, exchange students qualify to ride the bus for free during the school year. CATS (Chico Area Transit System) is the bus system in Chico. Rates, maps and routes are available at Butte Regional Transit.
It is recommend that all exchange students should live on campus because you will be able to build social networks and integrate into the CSU student community.

To take part in this exchange you are responsible for ensuring that you meet US immigration requirements. Further visa information will be provided to all accepted students.
DMU insurance is not sufficient for studying on exchange in the United States, and students are required to purchase emergency medical insurance while attending CSU. For more information, please see the CSU Website.
Fees and costs
Whilst studying at CSU, you do not need to pay any tuition fees. You will be required to pay for the following: accommodation, meal plan, health insurance and books.
