Second year Advertising and Brand Management students enrolled on MARK 2314 Advertising and Promotion and MARK 2313 Brand Management are eligible to apply for this opportunity. The maximum number of places on this opportunity is 35 and the minimum number the trip will go ahead with is 20. DMU staff will be accompanying the group.

This trip is designed to offer a range of activities suitable for second year students enrolled on MARK 2314 and 2313 modules to study how marketing communications and branding varies within a different cultural context.
Students will be given the opportunity to visit and experience a range of environments (advertising agencies and retail organisations) to allow them to observe the different forms of marketing communications used to reinforce brands. Students will be encouraged to identify the different modes of communication and the differing message constructs used within Indian business and social culture.
Students will have the opportunity to experience the educational setting of Daly College and have the opportunity to liaise and work on group tasks with students also studying the Brand Management and Marketing Communications modules, to develop greater understanding of global business issues and international contextulisation.
In addition it will act as a relationship bonding and integration session between Daily College Business School (DCBS) students and DMU students, prior to the DCBS students coming to Leicester for their final year of study. All students on the trip will be given a range of guided activities for the period of the stay which will allow them to put their academic knowledge to practical use.
Students will develop a greater degree of competence in the key skills of cultural awareness and intercultural interaction, as well as more general skills of communication and self-confidence.
Students participating in the trip will take part in a one day marketing conference at Daly College, India. DMU students and DCBS students will have the opportunity to work together to present a short presentation on the following ‘ Crossing boundaries and borders in International Branding and Communications’, Furthermore, this will be an opportunity to meet industry experts in the areas of branding and advertising.
While in India students will also have a chance to life at Daly College. During the trip there will be opportunities to immerse yourself in Indian culture by travelling to a local village and interacting with the community, as well as touring sacred and remarkable landmarks in surrounding towns and cities.
